Hello! My name is Dr. Stacy Wittstock and I’m an Assistant Professor of English and the Director of the Writing Center at Marist University. I am also co-editor of the Journal of Writing Assessment.
Before coming to Marist, I was the Assistant Director of Composition and an Assistant Professor-in-Residence in the English Department at the University of Nevada, Las Vegas (UNLV). I received my Ph.D. in Education and Writing, Rhetoric, and Composition Studies from the University of California, Davis in 2022 and my MA in English from Washington State University in 2013.
You can learn more about my work as a scholar, teacher, and writing program administrator by exploring the menu tabs above, which include my CV, information about my research agenda, my teaching philosophy, and sample course descriptions.
Outside of my work as a scholar and teacher, I am a native of the Great Pacific Northwest, hailing from Spokane, WA. I love all things science fiction, fantasy, and fairy tales and am an avid gamer. I can most often be found playing Dungeons & Dragons and Magic: The Gathering with friends. I’m also a cat-lover, as you might be able to tell from the banner image above of my cat Lessa (props to anyone who recognizes her namesake).
Thanks for visiting! Feel free to send me questions through email at stacy.wittstock@marist.edu
